Our chefs work hard under the leadership of Head Chef Duncan to create some amazing dishes, and they are always looking for ways to wow their guests. This filters down into everything they do, from the service from the front of house team to the kitchen where they spend hours perfecting tiny details, like their homemade bread and sauces.

Past Awards

While often, their hard work goes unnoticed, Playfair’s has been privileged over the last few years to receive several awards! In 2014, Playfair’s received the ‘Taste our Best’ award through Visit Scotland, which is a quality assurance scheme which focuses on promoting Scottish ingredients and encouraging the food industry to use local seasonal ingredients in their dishes. Also, in 2015, they were awarded one AA Rosette in recognition of their high standards, attention to detail and use of quality ingredients.

Another award that they’re particularly proud of is the Food Awards Scotland! Back in 2015, Playfair’s received a nomination as a finalist for Best Restaurant of the Year in North East Scotland. This category recognises restaurants that provide cuisine of an excellent standard, as well as demonstrating innovation and providing a high standard of hospitality. The nomination came from several members of the public who submitted Playfair’s for consideration!

In August 2015, the McLachlan family went to a culinary star-studded event in Glasgow at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, and had a wonderful evening topped off by an award for Best Restaurant!

Playfair’s was again nominated for Best Restaurant, this time for Central Scotland in 2016. While they didn’t win this year, Head Chef Duncan says, “Just to be nominated by the public for this award for two years in a row is a great achievement, and we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who voted for us!”
